Beware the Red Plague

Ladies, and men who watch the Lifetime Movie Network, may be familiar with the birth control pill Seasonale, which claims to reduce the frequency of periods to four times per year. If you can drop to four, why not zero? Well, it turns out a lot of women, and even doctors, are beginning to think that it's possible for women on BC to go safely without any periods at all.

This got me thinking about how the Church is going to spin this. As a Catholic, I should be against this. But then I listed the benefits: bigger breasts, no need for a condom, no blood-soaked objects in my bathroom trashcan, and best of all, no excuse for monthly emotional outbursts and bitching. Where's the downside? I hope the Pope will reconsider.

Downside:
1. Virtually all forms of the pill have a secondary, abortifacient effect. That is, failing to achieve their primary objective-to prevent ovulation-the pill will prevent the implantation of a fertilized ovum. In other words, the unique, new life is caused to be spontaneously aborted.
2. Fertility, a gift and sign of health, is treated as a disease. We give medicine to sick people to make them well. Here, poisons are self-administered to make the woman sick & sterile.
3. Artificial birth control and abortifacients attack the dignity of persons, permitting a man and woman to mutually use each other as objects of enjoyment.

May God guide you in your search.
